The emerald crashed into Earth being carried via Theia long before humanity, and was launched into orbit and caught in the formation ring that eventually created the Moon. During the formation, the emerald was knocked from orbit by a small meteorite and hit Earth again, leaving it to be buried deep in the crust of Earth until 2020, when it was rediscovered and kept in a inert region of spacetime.
