Get the Rail shaming mug.the act of undervaluing certain art-related careers and work (in contrast to careers that seem more "important" to society like the sciences) while at the same time trying to seem cultured in the arts and abusing its pleasures. One example would be a person who refuses to pay an artist or designer the full amount for their work and then goes to art museums to give his or her life value and meaning. Basically any action that makes derogatory comments on the significance of art and does not understand that 'artwork is work' falls under this category. This can often result in the artist feeling used and then completely rejected of any value to society.
Person 1: Man, I'm really interested in a career in children's book illustration.
Person 2: Isn't it crazy how children's book illustrators get paid so much for something so simple and yet engineers make all these calculation for yada yada yada?
Person 1: Wtf. That's totally art shaming!

Get the art shaming mug.woke shaming is when white people shame other white people for not being woke enough, resulting in silence or inaction, which perpetuates problems of racial injustice.
woke shaming between white people serves the narrative of "being part of the problem or not". It has absolutely nothing to do with the solution.
Example:
- you’re afraid to share information or ask a question out of fear of being met with a “well actually” response from your more woke friends
or:
- you share information with good intention without realizing your less woke friends will feel stupid (which they probably deserve to, but ask yourself- does feelings stupid inspire action and solution? Or does it just make you feel better about how woke you are??)
-someone asks you a question and the first thing you do is point out the problems in their logic/assumptions
Solutions:
-thank people for their questions, acknowledge their effort
-don’t be a “well actually” person. ever.
-repost/share information that perpetuates positivity and action/direction
-don’t look into the past at all. None of this “well you never cared before” or “I’ve cared all along” or “I care better or harder than you” bullshit
NOTE:
-if a POC makes you feel ashamed of your ignorance, IT'S OKAY. just listen and learn. The point is, whether or not shame or guilt is warranted as a feeling, it does not inspire action. Woke white people shaming other white people just makes it all about white people and guess what, IT'S FUCKING NOT.
