poverty with a view

Term used to describe life in Bend, Oregon or Central Oregon in general. Refers to numerous nearby mountain peaks, rivers, forests, clean air, and microbreweries, with the understanding that everyone will work for close to minimum wage ($7.50/hr) regardless of level of education due to a dysfunctional job market.

Honey, did you see the place for sale down the street? It's a run-down double-wide on a flat one acre lot. Includes monster truck. Wow, that's what I call "poverty with a view".

Poser

A poser is a generally slanderous insult with no truthful backing. It is often used among teenagers depending on what someone wears.

However, the literal definition is someone who attempts to 'pose' or not be their actual self, to fit in among others.

"Dude, John came in wearing an Adio jacket and skater shoes today."
"Are you serious? He doesn't even skate. Man, what a poser."

Truthfully, this by no means suggests that John was actually attempting to pose as a skater. He just bought the clothes he wanted.

Poker Voice

A voice one simulates to disguise inside feelings/emotions or sexual excitement. It's usually necessary when someone, being sure you’re NOT busy, knocks on your door or phones you at a very inappropriate moment.

Last night my mum knocked on my bedroom’s door to say that dinner was ready just when I was blowing the load into my gal! I just took a deep breath and said: "aaaaalright!". Dude, I just hope she could NOT read my poker voice...

poser

everybody according to someone. in reality a poser is someone who pretends to be someone they are not. only acting a certain way because they want to be accepted. the problem is someone is going to call you a poser no matter what. the term has lost all meaning really. i once heard a jackass call marilyn manson a poser. really? who is he trying to be if not simply himself? so in short everybody is a poser apparently.

bob: have you listened to the new gwar album?

jack: you like gwar? you're such a poser.

bob: you're a fucking idiot. why do we even hang out?
