that their dog won't be able to walk in the show. They did prepare the dog for two years, so understandably they were upset. However in their eyes this was the worst thing to ever happen. How serious they took the event is what is humorous. The ridiculousness of the situation, and how important the event is to them, draws people in to watch. People want to see what's going to happen in their world, and how each situation will play out. I think the cutting back and forth from each character also lets the audience experience humor from different scenes, which makes it so the film stays interesting.
