Lapel Pin Patriotism

When one values empty gestures and political rhetoric over substance or logical argument.
If there was anymore lapel pin patriotism on this news network they'd start shitting eagle eggs.

wannabe patriotism

What Americans are good at doing.
Wannabe patriotism ends when the cameras stop rolling.

wannabe patriotism

A movement that began the day after 9/11: Thousands of people who normally could care less about America suddenly decided to post flags and the words 'God Bless America' on every inch of their property. This led to the sickening influx of flags on houses, cars, beach towels, trailers, etc., as well as the moronic attempt to rid our culture of everything that originally came from some other place.
Thankfully, wannabe patriotism isn't as rampant as it was a year ago, but it's still out there...

patriotism

The belief that your country is better than everyone elses because you were born there.
Person from Iraq: I have patriotism, go Iraq, fuck America!
Person from America: God bless America, nuke em!

patriotism

loving your country, yet attempting to fix its faults -- instead of glossing over the unsavory parts.
patriotism is not following Bush and Cheney blindly into war. patriotism is hoping to remove their kind from office, to better America and strengthen civil liberties.

"We love America just as much as they do. But in a different way. You see, conservatives love America the way a four-year-old loves her mommy. Liberals love America like grown-ups. To a four-year-old, everything Mommy does is wonderful and anyone who criticizes Mommy is bad. Grown-up love means actually understanding what you love, taking the good with the bad, and helping your loved one grow."

sports patriotism

The practice of supporting and cheering for one’s national or local sports team, no matter how good or bad, simply because one happens to be a citizen of a particular country or town.
There was a sudden epidemic of sports patriotism on Facebook, as Indian cricket fans tried to outdo each other in rooting for their national team.
