Short for "grommet". Basically a young'un who is still learning to be rad. Not exclusive to surfing and skating, the term has been co-opted by most individual outdoor sports (skiing, snowboarding, kayaking, etc).

I saw this gromm ripping it up in the Alta Chutes the other day; kid might be legit rad soon...

Mancopian Grommet

The area by the penis/vagina where huge amounts of hair grow and evolve while being unshaved. This is usually the result of a dirty, homely being. It would be similar of grabbing and running your hand through a brillo pad or a black mans nappy hair.

Grommet

A young or inexperienced surfer or skateboarder.

A possible etymology for the word may be from the Portuguese term 'grumete', meaning the lowest ranking person on board a naval ship - this word would have been used widely in South Africa in the period when surfing was becoming popular.

There are a lot of grommets surfing at the point today, dropping on on everyone.
