Neil foolishly bit into the apple the shady stranger gave him, and a small explosion blew off the bottom of his face. A griswald was hidden in the apple.

Griswold mistake

A major oversight or obvious err in judgement or planning. As in the movie National Lampoon's Vacation, the Griswold family drives cross-country to Wally World theme park to find that it was closed. Or, failing to see an obvious easier route, short-cut, shorter line or less crowded approach to anything while preoccupied following the masses. "Stupid tourist, sheep, rookie mistake".

After spending nearly an hour looking for parking, Ves realized his Griswold mistake of shopping at the mall on the weekend.

Clark Griswold-ing it

When someone has the parks far back in a parking lot, even when there are plenty of spaces available closer; When one fails to realize that the person whom they are trying to yell for is right behind them; overabundance of christmas lights.

Dude! Why are you Clark Griswold-ing it?!?!?!?! There are plenty of spaces closer to the door!!

Well... Looks like the Smith's Clark Griswold-ed their house for Christmas again!!

Griswoldian Christmas Display

From the 'National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation' movie character, Clark Griswold and his overdone Christmas lights display.

Any obscenely over-the-top holiday lights display on someone's home. Often done in an insanely competitive, anti- "peace on Earth, goodwill towards men" desire to outdo and one-up the neighbors.

Jack: Dude, you're late for work again. And you've been looking like hell lately. What's up?

Shawn: I haven't had any sleep in days. My neighbor's Griswoldian Christmas display is so freakin' bright it's been keeping me up all night. AND it's draining so much power it caused a black out in my neighborhood last night, so my alarm clock didn't go off!

griswald knot

A large and complicated knot. Taken from National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation when the main character, Clark Griswald, passed off a string of lights in a basketball sized knot to his son. It's most commonly seen made of electrical cords from game consoles and computer systems.

Good luck getting that out. It's wrapped itself into a Griswald Knot.

Griswold

(noun) A house or display that has been decorated with way too many holiday lights, so as to be almost blinding. Origin is from the 1980s movie "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation," starring Chevy Chase as Clark Griswold.

I can see that house from a mile away. It's a real Griswold.

Griswald syndrome

Fear or anger felt upon the realization that you neighbors have more holiday lights than you do.

Lori developed Griswald syndrome after seeing her neighbors Christmas lights. All she talks about is how she needs to get more lights up.
