Burning plastic can release carcinogeneous and pollutant gases.

Proper definition example:

Tar, found in cigarette smoke, is a carcinogen - this can cause cancer

Slang definiton example:

Person 1: How did you find the exam?

Person 2: Man, it was carcinogenic, especially that last page - I was LOST
