Cancellation Gambit

A marketing strategy to garner more publicity from cancellation of a product or feature, than through traditional methods such as an award or introducing something new.

There's no marketing budget this year, so we used a Cancellation Gambit to get some free PR by news outlets.

Another example of a "cancellation consolation" would be if someone had to regretfully forgo a promised activity due to an unforeseen mishap, but offers you a comparably-enjoyable alternative, such as if a cute chick had arranged to go for a pleasant stroll hand-in-hand wif you, but then she accidentally hurt her foot and thus made it too painful for her to walk a long distance, and so she offered to let you savoringly massage her pretty feet for an extended period instead.

A term used in video games.

The act of cancelling your shots mid-air, essentially depending on luck on whether your hits connect or not.

The three-part text message cancellation

The passive-agressive, real-time technique a girl will use to cancel a date with a guy, starting with an initial postponing ("seeing a friend from out of town!"), a second postponing ("my friend is late, sorry!") and ending with outright cancellation, often without a second date suggestion ("Sorry, can't make it tonight! Talk soon")

The three-part text message cancellation goes as follows:
Girl: Hey, yeah, my friend Anna is in town for the night, and we'll just get dinner. Meet afterward for drinks?
Guy: Sure.
Girl: Yeah, so she's kind of down, I'm gonna have a couple of drinks with her, is that okay?
Guy: Yeah, I'll see you later.
Girl: Okay so Anna is sleeping over, girl's night in. Really sorry.
Guy: Okay, so we do this later then?
Girl: ...

Double Nut-ping Cancellation

Two wrestlers missing a low-blow simultaneously, as seen in THQ's WWF Wrestlemania 2000, and WWF No Mercy for the N64. This is achieved by a recovering character holding the the down pose and coming up with a low-blow while the standing character strong-strikes a low-blow of his own. The result is a double 'whooshing' sound and they both punch the air, no one hit. Normally, when one lands the low-blow, a "PING!" sound is heard. The fore mentioned maneuver cancels the "ping".

Premature Cancellation

The first cancelled day of a school district brought on at the first sight of snow simply because the teachers don't feel like going to work. This most commonly occurs on a Monday, maximizing the chance of every staff member being hung over.

1: Fuck yeah, school's cancelled and there's absolutely no snow on the ground!
