Who what when where why and how

A great game to play when you're bored in class. Start by writing Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How down the side of a paper. Beside who, write a person's name. Fold over so you can't see "who" and pass on to a friend. The next person writes an action beside "what", folds over, passes on. Continue until all of the titles are filled out, then open and read.

Let's play who what when where why and how!

Who: sasquatch and the toilet monster

What: played a vicious game of twister

When: yesterday afternoon

Where: under your bed

Why: because they wanted to taste his sausage

How: with a pitchfork

Points out that circumstances or behavior should have been obvious or anticipated when taking time and place into consideration. What do you expect considering where you happen to be and what you happen to be doing?

A group of "foodies" from a large city are traveling through a remote area and stop at a roadside diner to eat. They find a limited menu which features nothing but high carbohydrate, high fat, and fried foods. Finding it difficult to make a dinner selection one member of the group complains, in surprise, at the type of foods available. Another member of the group says, "Where you are and how you're dressed."

Explain what a wheel is, how a wheel works, and how to build a wheel

The act of wasting time and resources explaining something so fundamentally basic that anyone with half a brain already understands it, usually performed by someone who thinks they're being helpful but is actually being condescending. This phrase is invoked when someone launches into a lengthy tutorial on a topic that everyone in the room already mastered in kindergarten. It's the verbal equivalent of mansplaining, but for basic concepts. The classic response to "let me explain how this works" when you've been doing it successfully for decades. Also used in corporate settings when a new hire spends an hour explaining their "innovative" idea that's literally just how things are already done.

Example: "My new coworker spent 20 minutes explaining what a PDF is during the meeting. I wanted to say, 'Dude, we don't need you to explain what a wheel is, how a wheel works, and how to build a wheel—just attach the file and send it.' But I smiled and nodded, because that's what you do when someone is trying to be helpful but is actually wasting everyone's time."
