Rainbow fishing

The act of pretending to be LGBTQ+ (usually online or in media) to gain popularity, clout, sympathy, or likes especially during Pride season or when it benefits their brand. Rainbow fishers throw out vague queer coded content, love songs with no pronouns, rainbow emojis, or ‘supportive’ selfies with zero real life advocacy, hoping to hook the queer community and reel in attention like it’s currency.
Celebs, influencers, attention-hungry NPCs, or straight people who want the aesthetic without the oppression.

She said Ugh, I mean… I said I was gay for the clicks, but now I actually like this guy and the LGBTQ crowd won’t let me evolve. Like, sorry I’m fluid with my brand.

I guess my whole ‘coming out’ post was just rainbow fishing now I like a guy and everyone’s mad I lied. Oops.
