Tip fishing

The act of ingratiating oneself with someone who has recently come into money or fortune in the hopes of receiving a portion of it. This often involves feigning friendship or displaying exaggerated kindness towards the individual who has obtained the wealth, with the ulterior motive of benefiting financially from the association. Similar to "gold digging," but specifically targeting recent windfalls or successful endeavors.
