Emo is used to describe a person thats in this hole called depression. Girls cut their hair short. Guys grow their hair out. They also wear black and band merch. They also listen to bands like My Chemical Romance, Twenty One Pilots, Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco, etc. Some emos cut and kill themselves.

Get the emo mug.Emo is defined in multiple ways. It isn't just some stupid music of genre, nor is it people who self harm. Emo is a character trait. It's a genre of music. However, some "normal people" listen to it and don't even know it. Emos aren't all mean, and the ones who are have a reason to be. Some are really nice, but like I said it's a character trait. It depends on the person.

1) Behavior of an emo - Emo's usually behave as if they were depressed, but they are truly not. They tell dark jokes just to go with their outfit, and how they talk. They are very socially awkward, and will avoid you if you are a normal person. If you do try to communicate they will act shy, because nobody has given them attention like you have in years, and they finally get a single shred of evidence that they are living an embarrassing facade. They will instantly have a huge crush on you once you do communicate with them...
2) Clothing - Usually strange items you've never seen before, and when you try to study them you almost gag at why they are wearing them. They wear things like, mini hand cuffs on their bracelets that also happen to be black leather or a silver metal. They also add to their apparel a half shaven head with their hair swept to the side.
3) Hobbies - Usually drawing, or something that is kind of depressing like singing quiet songs or watching anime cartoons. Sometimes they are pretty good artists, and sometimes the stuff the draw will require 8 gallons of bleach for your eyeballs.
I personally dont see why someone would do something like, becoming an emo just for attention. Its sick. Enjoy life because you're gonna be 83 years old realizing that you did nothing but act sad your whole life just because you wanted someone to notice you. fuck off m8
