the same as being far-sighted. except in hearing. the ability to not hear things close to you, but when you are far away, they are clear as a bell. also known as "selective-hearing".

man to woman(up close, not in a loud setting) " what did you do last night?"
Woman, "huh?"

"oh, nothing, i'll be right back."
(man to other bystander)" she cant hear anything."

Far tar

Hoosier for "fire tower", this is a very tall steel structure in the forest. The "ire" is difficult for Hoosiers (people from Indiana) to pronounce as has long been speculated to be a result of inbreeding. The inability lies in the vowel followed by an "r". Similarly, the Hoosier will pronounce the word oil as "oral" and washing machine as "warshing machine".
