A: the laser attached to a given firearm
or
B: an infrared sight less likely
often uses in rap songs (Wanksta by 50 Cent or Inf beams by Flatbush Zombies) or in battle rap (Nu Jerzey Twork and others)

Get the Beam Swordmug. A very useful weapon in Metroid. It allows you to temporarily freeze enemies. Although no damage is done to the enemy, another shot to un-freeze will cause damage. A must-have weapon once you get to Tourian.
With enough skill, the Ice Beam can be used to freeze Rippers or other enemies to form a stepping stone to reach places you normally couldn't get to.
