Pong shot is a portmanteau between "long shot" (outside chance; low statistical likelihood of success) and tossing ping pong /table tennis balls into your opponents' drink cups. The likelihood of getting your ball into the cup and winning the game is inversely proportional to how many drinks you've already consumed.
