Dupe basically means copycat/twin but not necessarily in a bad way. It can be used in both a good or bad way depending on the context.

GOOD WAY

(Your friend’s hair looks exactly like Ariana Grande’s hair)

You: OMG your hair looks amazing!! Ariana duuupe

BAD WAY

(Some old guy posts a cringe TikTok that reminds you of Paul Breach)

You: Another hard watch. Paul Breach dupe

To have read the Western media for year and believed what you were reading, only to find years later that almost everything was exactly the opposite.

I only recent worked out that I was duped about the Russia entering Ukraine in 2022 as entirely unprovoked.
