Not Riding the Bus? 

The act of standing or sitting far enough away from a public bus stop as to make it appear as though you are not actually waiting for it when in actuality you are but are too embarrassed for people to realize this fact.
Why's that dude sitting over there? We all know his broke ass is waiting for the bus and shit. I guess he's not riding the bus? Yeah right!!

throw under the bus 

1. To denounce and reject a friend, mentor, relative, colleague, or casual acquaintance for the sake of political expediency.

2. Something that critics demand politicians do to the allegedly toxic people they are allegedly connected to. Only applies to black presidential candidates, who can throw their acquaintances under the bus repeatedly without ever satisfying the media's taste for roadkill.
