Get the Big Bossing It mug.A major, significant, and climatic boss fight mostly found in story-driven video game with some exceptions that culminates to and marks the endpoint of a specific chapter or section of the narrative or game; usually testing the player's skill from progression and tying off the narrative or gameplay section of a game as important gameplay or story milestones. Unlike regular boss fights, Chapter Bosses are uniquely designed to be memorable, often with distinct mechanics, narrative significance, or heightened difficulty, providing a sense of closure or progression to a particular section of the game.
Non-narrative driven games often tie Chapter Bosses to the completion of a world or section, acting as a gatekeeper to the next area or progress and emphasizing gameplay mastery or a unique challenge.
Narrative driven games have the Chapter Boss deeply integrated into the story, often representing a pivotal antagonist or thematic culmination of the chapter’s events. These bosses may carry emotional weight, reveal key plot points, or symbolize the protagonists’ growth. Their battles often blend narrative context with unique mechanics, making them stand out as story milestones.

A Candidate for a sous-final boss is "Tenna" from Deltarune Chapter 3, as the community (perhaps even Toby Fox) agrees that it is the final boss of Deltarune Chapter 3, while being annihilated by "The Knight", which fits as an actual final boss, due to it's hard music, and strong attacks.
The Same was gonna go with Deltarune Chapter 2, but Toby Fox Confirmed that the unarmed "Queen" boss is actually a penultimate boss and not a "sous-final" boss.
