Something that isn't ironic but you might think it is if you were a dozy Canadian bint. Named after Alanis Morisette's "Ironic".
"It's like rain on your wedding day" is alanic because it is only ironic if marrying a weatherman and he set the date. Otherwise it just sucks.

A word usually shouted in the street by any males under 30 in the UK when completely drunk from the sesh, or more commonly at a festival/campsite. When complicated vocabulary is difficult to get out, drunk squads will usually acknowledge each other with an extremely loud Alan. This is usually followed up by an Alan response from the other squad, however sometimes the response is Steve.
Four guys are walking down a back street on their way back home from the club.
Guy 1 spots another similarly drunk group of friends around 200m down the road.
Guy 1: "ALAN! AAALLLLLAAAAANNNNNNN!"
A member of the other group will then turn around and shout back.
"STEEEEEEEEEEEEVEEEEEE!"
