Hipster

Think that they're different than 'most' people for stumbling upon interests, music, or having ideas that are not yet considered "popular" to a vast amount of people. Once those things have reached a high volume of others, they are no long "quirky" or "cool".
"Have you ever listened to (ironic band name here) ? Probably not “hipster” enough. They dont have any recordings and never released any albums. They played their first live show in my basement, and I was the only one there. After their set, I murdered all of them so that I could be the only one to ever know what they sounded like. Never heard anyone like them."

Hipster

Someone who claims to know a lot about music/art while having little to no interest and very very little understanding of it & the associated communities. Basically a fake ass fucker who acts like an elitist know-it-all but they have no really interest in it and use this fake interest to leverage their social standing (aka just to look better than everyone else).

Synonymous with poseur.
Patrick's such a hipster. He says he listens to Alcest but he doesn't even know what genre the band is.

Hipster

A hipster is someone who conforms to non-conformity, usually without realizing they are doing so. Hipsters typically have subdued narcissistic traits and an amorphous sense of self. Hipsters usually project a passive or passive aggressive persona of superiority to those who live within societal norms or mainstream culture, and they externalize (or push internalized) self-judgement and insecurity onto others by way of harsh criticism via over-intellectualizing things to the point of creating irrational logic loops. Ultimately, hipsters are people with an identity problem. Their efforts to solve this problem usually come from attempting to individuate themselves through subcultural trends (such as off-beat fashion, music and art trends, etc.) that make them feel unique despite the irony that their efforts to do so end up being conformist to a hipster subculture that has become mainstreamed in a roundabout way.
A hipster walks into a bar and realizes they don't have a mixologist, only bartenders. He walks out.

Hipster

People who listen to bands no one has ever heard of and can be rather cocky. They never call themselves hipsters and deem many things as "mainstream"

Many teenage girls of these days attempt to pose as hipsters through their Instagram and twitter post, but do not succeed.
Girl 1: I'm going to post a picture of my converse with a vintage filter

Girl 2: OMG so hipster! 1!1!2!222!!

Girl 3: I'm wearing an oversized sweater and combat boots, how hipster am I?
