When you BEGIN stan someone, mainly a musical group that has already split or disbanded.

The term is inspired by the word "retroactive," which means "taking effect from a date in the past."

It's not really nostalgia, because you were never really there.

So it feels like you are stanning a period in the past, and you are mentally there.

1. Since JPop was gatekept for a million years, now I'm retro-stanning King & Prince as 5/6 members in 2025.

2. Retro-stanning *insert former famous girl group or boy band* because the hype is gone now.

When a person has to "one up" every conversation by saying something bigger or cooler. Usually an attempt to gain acceptance or be a part of the group.

When telling a story the other day about my recent hunting trip where I killed a good buck, Ol Stan butted and said "Shit that ain't nothing...I killed two bucks with a single shot. And both were bigger than that!"
