A type of music or genre, genrally thought of as depressed & suicidal. This is not always the case, though, as many 'emo kids' are fun-loving & just like the music and the style. Often connected with scene kids.

Emo

Despite many of the other definitions on this site, the term 'emo' is actually used to describe people who have trouble controlling and handling their emotions.
not all emos cut themselves, and not all emos listen to 'emo' music, though admittedly a lot of them do...

umm, no example to be thought of for this particular definition of emo ^^

A word used by prejudiced no-hopers, to make themself feel better about their shallow labelling. Often used to describe music taste, fashion taste, depression, hair cuts, art and, wierdly enough, colours.

Basically anything individual or dark.

No-hoper:OMG! Those black jeans are soooo EMO!

"Emo":You were wearing the same pair last week.

No-hoper:OMG that music is sooo emo!

"Emo": I'm sorry, I shall run along and listen to Rihanna and derogatory rap now, shall I?

No-hoper: Do you like cut?

"Emo": Do you, like, have a mental problem?

Emo

'Emo' is a music genre, yet it is used in the wrong context and usually mistaken for a style label for a teen goth cult. Its a bit odd to think you are an 'emo', so try a different style. Don't try scene unless you would be commited to it. Don't a poser.

To me emo is a style i am def not a middle class teenage girl im a lower middle class mommy of 2 and i have a scene hair cut and since i have been in junior high have dyed my hair funky colors and wore rock shirts and skate shoes and still do then i was considered a candy kid or raver but never went to a rave now all the sudden im emo nope im me thanks and from what i gather emo is a genre of music so i dont go around saying i hate jocks do i people are people thank you!! And just to let you know ive never cut my self out of self loathing but i have gotten a tattoo to express things i am feeling and im also a very happy human being ive never been depressed a day in my life!!! im just fun and love to express that in my style!!
