ok, lets quit dissing the emos.
emo stands for emotional.
many of them dont know how to cope with the many hard obstacles of life(like me) and many of them turn to cutting themselves. it helps release everything that is being held inside. not all emos have black spiky hair and tight jeans etc. an emo person can look like a prep. it doesnt matter, fact is, is that emo means emotional.

it can also be a style.

Im having a tough time dealing with life, so people call me emo.

"Emo IS a music genre that started in the 1980's called "Emocore". Some people like to dress in the "Emo" style. The society thinks about them as failures; that they are not strong enough to hide their emotions, they're sensitive, shy, introverted, and often quiet. The term 'emo' itself is used nowadays as an insult. Emocore is COMPARED (not is) with pop boy bands of 1990s. Critics cast the music as lacking any artistic merit and that the fashion is just a fashion used to drive girls attention. The ones who are emo not because they feel it, but because they like to be trendy are named 'posers'. A big percent of the current emo subculture is formed by posers. Emo subculture is acused that it is celebrating self-harm. in recent years the media has linked the Emo scene closely with issues of cutting and self-harm, but in reality there is no medical or cultural link that connects it to any one social group. Self-harming stems from some serious mental illnesses, namely borderline personality disorder, and is also carried out by people who are suffering, or who have suffered from significant trauma or emotional upset. Cutting is also usually linked to other psychological symptoms such as depression, social phobia and extreme anxiety. When you look at the medical reasons behind cutting and self-harming, it is impossible to suggest it affects any one group of individuals, and so claiming that somehow a fundamental part of the Emo culture is very misleading." A popular style. Usually the people that are emo are teenager kids who want to be unique and different, but they're all the same.

hiiii. i'm your typical emo kid (;. i dye mah hair black because it matches my clothes. i usually wear skinny jeans and tight t-shirts from Hot Topic. my favorite song from blink-182 is "I Miss You" because the first line involves a dead angel. my favorite flower is a black rose.i'm obsessed with Gir and whatever fad Hot Topic throws out. oh, I like the Sour Cream and Onion flavored crickets there. when I eat them it makes me feel like a vampireeee<3. rawr. hey did ya know that rawr means i love you in dinosaurrr? i got a shirt that says that. guess where I got it? uhh yes Hot Topic! my favoriteee bands are my chemical romance, black veil brides, fall out boy, and brokencyde. i cut myself, but only because it relieves stress. i also like skateboarding. uhhhhh and thats my life. i also have 10 piercings.
