Pocahontas effect

When after a few drinks, you become convinced that if you listen with your heart, you will understand. You listen to conversations in foreign languages with what you think is near perfect comprehension, perhaps even speaking back in the few words you know of their language or of an entirely different one.
Last night, I tried to charm the hot Italian bartender by speaking in Spanglish. What can I say? The Pocahontas effect strikes again.

Bambi Effect

Primarily the Bambi Effect designates the emotional trauma, usually mild and transitory experienced by hunters and trappers when viewing close up a dead or dying and suffering neotenous, i.e., "cute and adorable" animal for whose death and suffering they suddenly acknowledge some responsibility.

Guilt experienced by a hunter as he suddenly identifies with the suffering of an animal which he has killed. The name is a reference to the classic Disney film, Bambi, in which the tragic climax to the story is reached as the protagonist's (Bambi's) mother is killed by hunters.

Secondarily the effect pertains to the reaction of witnesses to scenes of the brutal killing of said neotenous animals, e.g., harp seal pups clubbed by Canadian hunters.
The black limpid pools for eyes of small, helpless harp seal pups connote childlike innocence, and it was the oft repeated images in the mass media of the clubbing of seal pups that caused an outcry in the 1970's to protect the pups from Canadian hunters. Strangely, the continual slaughter of bonobo apes, who are genetically closest to humans or of West African elephants, orders of magnitude more intelligent and consciously aware than any seal pup, never provoked nearly the same amount of public concern and outrage against animal cruelty. This seeming ethical inconsistency is no doubt owing to the differential operation of the Bambi Effect upon witnesses to images of human-caused animal suffering.

The Trump effect

Doing something really stupid, but the to draw attention away from said stupid action, do something even more stupid, drowning out the affect of the first stupid action. Repeat until successful, and presidency is over.
“Oh crap I killed the cat, well by using the Trump effect, I can just eat the dog to make everyone forget about me killing the cat.”

The Airport Effect

The temporary increase in self importance that individuals assign to themselves while waiting at airports.

Future passengers suffering from the airport effect often portray more serious facial expressions, increase their cell phone speaking volume if discussing business matters, and perform fake work on their laptop near heavily populated areas.
James and Preston sit at the Chilis bar near gate 17:

James: "Preston, please excuse me for a moment. I'm going to get my shoes shined in the elevated wooden chair while I read the journal"

Preston: "James are you alright? You seem to be coming down with the airport effect..."

Moses Effect

The Moses Effect can refer to a multitude of things. The main is to describe the effect a police car has on traffic on the motorways. For example, when a police car enters the motorway, the cars in front of the police part out of the police cars lane, and slow down to the point where they actually go behind the police car. This leaves a 3 lane wide open stretch of road in front of the police car. This is the parting of the sea of cars leaving open empty road, thus the moses effect. Known to cause heavy backups and traffic. Another form of the Moses effect can refer to the parting of people in the way of a person people fear, admire, or have extreme respect for. This time just, leaving an open stretch of walkway with hundreds of people lining eiether side. The Moses Effect is not imited to only these two uses.
As the Police Trooper merged on to the motorway, the Moses Effect took place, the cars all instantly slowed down and merged to the sides of the road. The Trooper took this to his advantage and enjoyed the endless span of road free of other cars.
