Apartheid-era ghetto slang term used by black South Africans to refer to a van, a "Hippo" armored personnel carrier, or other vehicle of the South African National Police (or South African Defense Force) -- most especially in connection with "goombas" used to support white police seizing and terrorizing blacks. Also, often a term used by blacks to refer to the police themselves.
