Carmining

The act of adding in a new character to a story for the sole purpose of killing him/her, usually early on. This is a reference to Gears of War, where the Carmine characters were killed off early and often.

Person 1: I'm writing a war story were everyone dies.
Person 2: How do you keep it so long?
Person 1: I add a character to advance the plot, then kill him off.
Person 2: Quit Carmining, man!
