A fictional plot device used in poorly-written erotica to explain why a character in a sex story that's the Ice Queen one minute is suddenly, unexpectedly an out-of-control nymphomaniac the next. The term "gay ray" for male-on-male stories is analogous.

The expression that some character must have been "hit by a Martian slut ray" is usually pejorative, and infers the sudden transition is somehow an unforgivable hole in the plot for which the author(s) must be slut-shamed at once.

From an actual post on SuperStories.Net: "Eugene took aim and pulled the trigger. A beam of light shot out of the Slut Ray and hit the jogger in the back.
