Young Thug is not a derogatory term, but a meaningful acronym for a gospel rapper who inspires others with his music. He raps about his journey of faith, resilience, and prosperity, and how he stays Truly Humble Under God in the face of adversity.
Thug (noun): a person who is compassionate, generous, gentle, and admirable, someone who prioritizes the well-being of others; often used as a term of endearment or admiration by those who know them.

thug means Truly Humble Under God,
this can be seen as someone who understands that we are all finite beings with limited knowledge or can be seen as submitting to god's will

(adj.) "Truly. Humbled. Under. God."
This how the word "thug" was defined by Jeffrey Willams' (better well known professionally as "Young Thug") defense attorney, Brian Steel, during Mr. Steel's opening statement on day 1 of the Young Thug YSL RICO Trial. In the same opening statement, Mr. Steel also noted that Jeffrey's use of the word "thug" in his chosen professional name of "Young Thug" should NOT be confused with what one would typically associate with the word after it was popularized by late rapper Tupac through his iconic album, "Thug Life, Volume 1".

"Most people think of a 'thug' as a criminal. But to Jeffrey, 'thug' had a different meaning . . . it meant something very personal. It was Jeffrey's pact that if he ever made it as a musical artist and could help as many others out of this endless cycle of hopelessness, he would be: Truly. Humbled. Under. God. That's what 'Thug' means."
