Get the dart queenmug. A term used for a woman in celebrity culture who gay/queer people identify heavily with and adore/defend because of said identification. Sometimes often impersonated by drag queens as well.
Joan Rivers (among many others such as Judy Garland, Janet Jackson, Lady Gaga, Beyoncé Knowles, Britney Spears, and Betty White) is often attributed to this title. As her comedy, charity work with AIDS and suicide survivors (which disproportionately have affected gay people), and overall support for the gay community has lived on after her passing. She was one of the first celebrities to speak against the AIDS crisis in support of gay people.
