An excuse for the people around you to eat out at a nice restaurant, when all you really want to do is lie on the couch peacefully watching Gilmore Girls. In reality birthdays can be quite stressful and beg the cynical question ---- is this day for you, or for the people around you?

John: I can't believe I'm turning 30 next week.

Ben: Happy early birthday! Let me take you out---there's this new bar that opened up, I've been meaning to try it out.

John: I appreciate it, but honestly, I just want to sit home and watch Gilmore girls.

Ben: 30 is special! You can watch that show any other day. Turning 30 only happens once!
