when something is awesome, surprisingly awesome, or saying like "whattttt?!?!?!?!?". synonymous with "bet". also the tone really adds a lot.

"I got with this guy last night"
"merchhhh?!?!?!? was he hot? how was it"
"yeah he so fine it was epic"
"merch!"
