The word 'like' originated from a modern fad where people ( often female ) choose to substitute any and all spaces with the word 'like'. This is an extremely annoying dialect.

Original definition was meant to show affection towards something or show comparison to. Now, it is a meaningless word for people, or overused on social networking sites.

Original: I like the way the car drives. (or) It looks like we will be early for the movie.

Meaningless version: So like, uh, he, like said he wants to like go with you to like the concert or something.
