The Super NES was the last great of the greats. While there were other respectable consoles (Sega Master System, etc.) the SNES stands head-and-shoulders above them all. Utilizing the first real Interconsole Connectivity (a system of ideas that is still in employment today) the SNES beat down other companies with its ability to play Gameboy games with its Game-Genie-like Super Gameboy adapter.
Following up from their heritage of "Programmable Games" (excitebike, etc.), The system had Mario Paint, where hours could fall into nonexistance as you try to draw with the only mouse for a console available at the time, and for years to come.
There is so much amazingness packed into this gray-and-purple rectangle (With its own Eject button!)that its hard to see why gaming went and started to depend on graphical capabilities, but there is an explanation in the SNES itself.
Super Nintendo sowed the seeds of its own demise when Nintendo released StarFox with the SuperFX chip built into the cartridge, it was one of the first fully Three-Dimensional console titles, if not The First.

Get the The Last Great Console mug.Console Fanboys, these people are annoying. Console fanboys are arrogant people that will go apesh*t if their favorite gaming system is brought into question. Whether it be the Playstation 2, Gamecube, or X-Box. Each system has its pros and cons, but console fanboys don’t care. For example, if a fanboy is devoted to Sony, he will love every system made by Sony, and hate everything made by competing companies. But the main thing console fanboys are focusing on right now is the next-gen systems. The X-Box 360 is already out, and it is being praised by Microsoft fanboys as being better then the other two next-gen systems, the Playstation 3 and Nintendo Revolution. Even though the PS3 and Revolution are not even out yet. Two things that make console fanboys annoying are: 1) They hate every system other than the one they like, regardless of whether or not they have even played them. 2) They think the next-gen system made by their favorite company will be better than the other next-gen systems, even if they are not out yet and no one can know for sure which is best. Console fanboys will always be close-minded. They will always exist as long as new gaming systems come out.
If you want to see the console fanboy yourself, I suggest going to any forum with a lot of members, and starting a thread asking which gaming system is best. Before you know it, a slew of console fanboys will flood your thread with their comments and flame wars will ensue.

Get the The Console Fanboy mug.SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System for the noobs), the high king over all gaming systems, made legendary by such games as Super Metroid, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, the mario titles it carried over including the one with yoshi and the all star pack, FFX, the Donkey Kong games, and the badass Megaman series, especially Megaman X 3. Only the Sega Genesis could ever rival it, and that only due to the Sonic Series. As Nintendo proceeds to develop their halfass game cube platform, the SNES remains the greatest of all consoles ever made.
The Last Great Console owns the hell out of the atari, the nintendo, the N64, the Game Cube, the Playstation, the PS2, the Sega Genesis, the Dreamcast, and especially the Xbox.

We have taken multiple W’s, and L’s today, but right now NOC STAG JR has us shaking in our boots, as he already made an attempt at penetrating our base, and has threatened to return.
