'Gully Egg' is a person, usually old who randomly collects cans, bottles and other items of supposed value from rubbish bins in high population public areas, seemingly with no or little shame.The word derives froma the word 'gull' and what comes from the gull, being an egg.

Oh man, look at that gully egg with his head halfway buried in that bin.
