Any man that is a particularly conspicuous alcoholic in comparison to other residents of his hometown. A reference to Otis Campbell who was the town drunk on the Andy Griffith Show as played by Hal Smith.

I may take an occasional drink, but I'm not Otis of Coventry.

A medical condition in which certain breeds of Canis familiaris (dogs) exhibit behavioral tendencies often associated with heavy inanimate objects stored in sacks. Common symptoms are lying down at the dog park instead of playing with other dogs, lying down during a walk, and/or lying down during a burglary.

There are no known cures.

A: How was your walk with Jerry (basset hound)?
B: Not so great, I had to drag him most of the way.
A: Wow, sounds like Jerry might have lazy-itis-otis. You should really be feeding him a vegan diet.

When hang gliding, parasailing, or other aircraft, the updraft of airflow from a hill or weather phenomena is sometimes referred to as Otis. Because of the elevator company by the name Otis, updrafts are called otis due to the fact they can give the hang glier etc. a ride up.

When I went hang gliding last week I rode Otis up for nearly five hundred feet!
