The J.R. Effect

When a bullheaded person is ill-trained, in charge, and singlemindedly opposes a large team of intelligent dissenters, and this stubborn decision causes severe loss, that is the J.R. effect

Usage note: The J.R. effect is often preceeded by what is known as the chewbacca defense.

Everyone told him not to heat the lava lamp on the stove, but he explained the model of the chemical structure of the subatomic particles and the flashpoint reaction -- we don't know what the fuck he was talking about. Anyway, now he's dead with a shard of glass through his heart as a result of the J.R. effect.

That plane experienced a Bryko Effect when it was almost certain to crash land but suddenly the engine became fully functional again during the plunge.

A situation where a person looks darker in a photograph or very tanned due to a second very white (light skin toned) person in the photograph aswell

The phenomena where images of a penis in a television show or movie cause mental anguish to a viewer.

The golden dong scene in episode 9 of "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" caused James to seek aggressive psycho-therapy. This is the dong effect.

The showing of Dr. Manhattan's blue dong in The Watchmen movie resulted in manic-depression in many viewers. This is the dong effect.
