Emo

Well, there are two types of emo. There are the people who really appreciate the style, then there are the people who try to act emo to be cool or something. These people who pretend to be emo are called posers, and have now ruined the name of being emo, and a lot of other things. No, emo people are not depressed. Depressed people have nothing to do with being emo.

The difference between emo and poser:

Me: I didn't know you like Avril Lavigne! She's my favorite singer.
Poser: I kno! She's lyke totalli punk! I luv gyrlfrend!

Random stranger: Are you depressed or something?
REAL emo person: No... Why do I look like it?

A person who has a lot of emotion and likely cries over issues that most people would shrug off. A person who can also be angry at many aspects of their life. Being a true emo person has absolutely NOTHING to do with clothing style, hair style, the people they associate with, or how they talk. You are not an 'emo' or acting 'emo' if you think that being an 'emo' means wearing black, having some multi-coloured or crazy hairstyle, cutting, talking about death, or wearing tight clothes ECT. In other words, a true emo could be viewed as a person who is overly sensitive on the sadness/happiness spectrum.

Emo

An emo is someone who has long hair, usually covering one eye or both, and wears black skinny jeans, band t-shirts, and beanies, as well as having a ton of bracelets. They usually listen to bands like My Chemical Romance, Bullet For My Valentine, or something of that genre (emo). They may or may not wear makeup as well as a large amount of black eyeliner (both males and females). Not all emos cut themselves, they are not devil worshippers, and they aren't all depressed. While there are some cringy losers that call themselves emo, for the most part, emos are pretty cool. Emos are like any other clique. There are some asswipe emos and there are some friendly emos.

Asswipe emo: My life sucks, nobody understands me, I want to die, angst angst angst.
Normal Emo: Gerard Way is our lord and savior.

Emo

Definitely a miss used word... in my expericance it takes an emo a little bit of time to open up in both feelings and apperance. Just because one is emo doesnt mean they harm themselves or others. Not all emos are quiet, actually a lot of us are loud and cheerful, and mainly cause we hid behind a face, but no all the time. Emos are really chill people and are the best at giving advice. We also have a great taste in music! ;) I feel like people make fun of emos for no reason, and that should change, I believe we should bring the emo era back and people will finally know how awesome it is!

emo

basically means you listen to different punk bands, and (or) screamo, if thats what you like. It has nothing to do with cutting, but although some emo's include cutting because cutting is an emotional disorder where you feel relief in hurting yourself due to internal feelings, but caused externally. Most emos are very shy at first, but optimistic when you begin to get to know them, they are often judged because of what they wear. And to be honest, being emo is just a style. Just like preppy is a style, and grunge is a style.

Alot of people tend to think lead singer of the band BLACK VEIL BRIDES andy biersack is emo, but he isn't...he just dresses that way. He's also reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy sexy.

But the whole stereotype thing started with fucking myspace, so......

Terry: emo is justa style in clothing, sally...just like ghetto fabulous is
