Byrd Effect

The Byrd Effect - A phenomenon surrounding internet news message boards wherein parties related or known to a perpetrator of a crime or person otherwise at fault in a situation will post rambling long-winded digressions and excuses for the behavior of their friend or relative.

Frequently involve use of poor grammar and punctuation, insults, and attempts at virtual psychoanalysis of other critical posters. Also, may include unsubstantiated allegations of media or authoritative subterfuge and claims of knowing vital perspective altering information, which is inexplicably never shared.
I can't believe that the family member resorted to the Byrd Effect in their reply to the message board.

Monterey Effect

A bizarre sliding scale phenomenon where the opposite sex becomes more desirable as their numbers decrease in proportion to the same sex in a small geographic area. The greater the difference in proportion, the greater the opposite sex's desirability is increased. First identified on the Monterey Peninsula in California in 1989, there were almost 100,000 single men at Fort Ord and other military installations which greatly increased the number of single men compared to single women.
Dude, take her out of this sausage fest and she's nothing more than a four, maybe 5 at best. The Monterey Effect strikes again.

Thanks to the Monterey Effect, even the most disgusting land-a-tee can get laid.

The one piece of universally applicable advice that adequately explains any situation. Usually used by a superior professional to a beginning professional, when the former has taught absolutely nothing to the latter.
Nurse: Holy shit dozens of people are coming in with unknown ailments!
Doctor (Going on break): you'll do fine. Remember, take the Coriolis effect into account.
Nurse: What about variable humidity?
Doctor: Yeah, that too.

Student: How am i supposed to know what to study for the final?
Tutor: Look, our time us up. Just take the coriolis effect into account, and you'll do fine.
Student: Did we cover variable humidity?
Tutor: Yes, that will be on the exam.

Original example:
Cpt macmillan: Remember what i've taught you. Keep in mind variable humidity and windspeed along the bullet's flight path. Also, at this distance, you'll have to take the Coriolis effect into account.
