A woman who has taken on the gender role of a man.
Similar to butch, but less offense than dyke.

It is ok to hit a woman only if she's a pseudo-dude, it's only fair that if she wishes to act like a man you treat her like one.

word referring to a person who you are friendly with, but may not actually know. Also 'mer' or 'chick-mer' for the gender specific.

Can refer to strangers.

" This guy was looking for you, dude-mer that works at the record store"

" Oh, you mean Steve. Sweet, thanks "

Playing Dude

Along the lines of "playing dead", but the dude version. This is a tactic men (or even women) use when their girl(boy)friends or wives(husbands) are talking and they want to pretend not to hear what they are saying so that they don't have to address or acknowledge their wants and/or needs.

I think your boyfriend hears you when you complain about all the gas you waste driving to and from his house every day. I think he knows you want to move in with him, he's just playing dude.
