-Y originated from the hollow knight silksong community, more specifically, the subreddit r/silksong
it started as a version of the "bait used to be believable" meme, but instead of goku, it was hornet smoking the cigarette
then it was simplified into an MS paint version
then it was turned to ascii art
then it was watered down to -Y and -I
the - is supposed to be the cigarette and the Y is supposed to be hornet
so basically, its a watered down version, of a simplified version, of a simplified version, of a variant of a meme
the -Y -I debate went HARD, people wrote POEMS about this
