An outdoor surface, typically a finely groomed fescue or other graminoid, on which the sport invented by Dr. James Nasmith is contested. Often confused with the more common, yet inferior, basketball court, these fields are much gentler on joints and ligaments. Sizes may vary, although regulation fields are 94' x 50'.

A cigarette when smoked under “Field” conditions. The phase was coined by Lt Col Douglas Genereux while on an exercise in Beaufort County, S.C.. When asked if he would like a smoke and no cigars were available his reply was simply, “Sure, I’ll have a field cigar” and accepted a cigarette

TRACK CAPITOL USA. The greatest times in the US are run on this track, including jim ryans high school record that was broken by Allen Web (who also ran on his time on this track). Also Steve Prefontaine who held ever american record from the 2000m-10000m.

A thursday night room cleaning to prep for a inspection friday morning that is required to go way beyond the point of clean to ridiculous things like no ice in your freezer, no water in your sink, no hygiene products in your shower. Most of the time you truly believe that someone woke up one morning, sat down with a pen and paper and just came up with a bunch of ridiculous things to look for in these "inspections". Basically Field day is just another tool used by Marine Corps leadership to piss off and demoralize Marines on a weekly basis.
