Street Cred

A term mainly used by whites to make them sound more black. Typically used to sound more thuggish, like they are from the streets when really they are most likely from a middle-class suburb family and have maybe smoked pot. Most likely the worst they have done is they got caught with a fake ID. Caution: people who claim to have 'street cred' probably have not spent any time on the street other than doing shopping downtown.

Also, people who try to pretend like they know how to live on the streets to sound cool obviously have not lived on the streets and probably have some issues.

"Ya, I got street cred. I once knew a black guy who went to jail."
"Living on the streets is dope, yo. I know, because I have street cred."

Occupy Wall Street movement

A series of protests of concerned U.S. citizens, mostly held in New York City, to end the corporate greed and political corruption that has been degrading democracy in this country for years.
Criticized by the largely corporate-controlled media (Fox News especially), but is still gaining ground and will (hopefully) meet their goal of restoring the power to the people, not just the wealthiest 1% of Americans.

The Occupy Wall Street movement is opposite of the Tea Party protests.

street trash

A cult classic/exploitation movie from the late 1980's. The story loosely revolves around a seedy liquor store owner that comes across a case of 60-year-old booze called "Viper" and sells it to the local bums for a dollar a bottle. When the victim drinks the booze, they either melt, fall apart in huge chunks, or explode.

Subplots also include a game of keep-away with a severed penis, necrophilia, and a bizarre love triangle between a low-paying secretary and two transients. Also titled "The Horror on Bowery Street".

This movie was once a hard-to-find gem in the VHS bootlegging circle; it now has a new lease on life thanks to a remastered release on DVD.

I watched that movie Street Trash, and it was vile. I had to take a shower afterwards.

Occupy Wall Street

A movement that talking heads in the mainstream corporate media love to denigrate by claiming we have no clear message. In actuality, the message couldn't be more clear if you'd just open your ears and LISTEN.

Occupy Wall Street does not advocate for the end of capitalism. Rather, we oppose crony capitalism and wish for a return to the pre-Reagan era of capitalism under which the U.S. had greater equality and stronger economic growth.

Some examples of issues supported by Occupy Wall Street:

- Restoration of Glass-Steagall financial regulations which stood strong for nearly 70 years until they were axed in 1999

- Reversal of the 2010 Citizens United supreme court ruling which basically enabled moneyed interests to decide our elections

- Repeal of the Bush tax cuts and an eventual return to the pre-Reagan tax rates under which the U.S. prospered

- An end to corporate personhood and other special loopholes and privileges that exclusively benefit large corporations at the expense of everyone else

- An end to oil subsidies, bank bailouts and other forms of corporate welfare

- Restoration of the workers rights that were decimated by Reagan and further whittled away by George Dubya

- An end to lobbying - politicians should work for ALL Americans

- A return to the principles of democracy
