Road Work

Closing a road or a lane of traffic for no apparent reason (for 10 years).

I was going down the high way and there is road work slowing down traffic.

IT JUST WORKS

Like DaVinci's "Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication", when software does very complex things with very simple and intuitive human interaction in a reliable way. I first heard "It Just Works" used regularly within Apple by Peter Hoddie and Ian Ritchie of the QuickTime team in January 1993. Later, Steve Jobs and others started using it, probably because Peter and his team had presented QuickTime and used that phrase.

When you want to show a video, you double-click and it just works.

Work Wood

When something great happens at work and you develop a semi hard on. Also, could be caused by a hot chick in the office.

Dude, everybody was high fiving after the deal closed but I stayed in my desk cause I was sproutin some work wood.

Did you see Katie in that skirt. She's killing me. I could not get up from my desk without showing the world my work wood.

Working on something that isn't the main thing you should be working on, but in general is good to get done and is helpful.

Steve tidied his whole room, procasti-working instead of actually sitting down and getting on with his project

Person A: "Dude, what are you doing? That isn't what we should be doing today. "
Person B: "This needs to be done"
Person A: "You're totally procasti-working"

Sleep-Working

Sleep-Working happens when you haven't had your morning cup of coffee before work, which usually results in ultimate failure and/or workers compensation.

Ann: "Did you hear Neek fell off the 3-step ladder pulling an 80 pound gear from the 2nd shelf?

Jim: "That poor bastard was Sleep-Working again."

work fog

That not-all-there dreamlike state you're in while at work. Typically diminishes as soon as you leave work. It tends to diminish slower on Mondays and fastest on Fridays. Common symptoms include endlessly staring into space and answering any and all questions with a simple huh what did you say.

Hey man {peers over cubical wall} you don't seem like you're all here today. Oh he's just in work fog.
