Style over substance

When someone or somethings aesthetic and perceived value, mask the lack of content and depth of character.

A- Did you see Dave’s post on Instagram the other day?
B- No
A- Its just him sat there in his car looking off into the distance flashing his fancy watch and designer clothes with the hashtags Range Rover, Burberry, Rolex. And he only went and sponsored the post.

B- That’s style over substance for ya.

Stylé

Mot utilisé ironiquement, généralement lorsque la personne est gênée. Il veut dire "stylish" ou "cool" en anglais, mais dans le contexte des "jeunes", on l'utilise pour décrire une chose qui est au contraire, pas stylée du tout.
Quand quelque chose ne plaît pas, on utilise ce mot avec un ton de dégout ou de gênance.

-Hey mec, regarde je sais raper.
-Ah ouais? euh vas-y
- Hier on m'a frappé, alors je lui ait dit "eh ton p7re est fromager"
-ah ouais euh, stylé mec stylé

Brooklyn Style

To toss litter (particularly food wrappers) onto the street, sidewalk or gutter while walking instead of waiting to find a trash can.

There are no trash cans around here/they are overflowing - oh well, I'll just get rid of this McD's trash brooklyn style (tosses mcd's litter in the gutter keeps walking).

The native new yorker unwrapped his bagel sandwich and got rid of the foil and paper wrapping brooklyn style. (tosses it to feet while continuing walking).
