A small, round, golden ball used in the magical game of Quiditch. When the game starts, the snitch flies away and hides during most of the game. Later in the game, the snitch appears, and the seeker (one position in the game of Quiditch) tries to catch it. When the seeker on either team catches the snitch, the game is over, and the team of which the seeker who caught the ball is awarded 150 points.

A person that agrees to be part of something (organization, gang, drug dealer, embezzling, shoplifting ect.) with a person, or a group of people, knowing the risk involved, decides to tell on the others in order to save themselves once he or she is caught.
Tom, Dick, and Harry house got busted for drug selling, Harry got caught but Tom, and Dick got away.
Instead of Harry taken the wrap for himself and doing his time for what he did, he snitched on Tom, and Dick to get off the charges and save himself, even though he knew the risk when he first decided to join.
