magical mystery tour

Taking a trip to an unknown destination by taking some public form of transit, chosen at random, usually a local bus. Some people do this to get to know a new city. Others do it for the fun factor, and potential for a good story later.

For my last holiday, I did a magical mystery tour and ended up in Thunder Bay.

Magical Flying Panther

The anime equivalent of jumping the shark. In essence, any plot point that comes out of left field and makes no sense within the context of the show.

A reference to the penultimate episode of Occult Academy, where one of the characters is suddenly revealed to be a magical flying panther, to great unintentional comic effect.

I'm going to watch that new SHAFT anime. I hope it doesn't go all magical flying panther on me.

When a politician makes a comment so offensive that it costs him/her the election. Originally refers to an offhand comment made by former Sen. George Allen, calling a volunteer filming the event 'macaca' that was widely broadcast via. YouTube.

The Governor had a macaca moment on Tuesday when he insulted the ethnicity of an audience member.
