1. An absence of anything/something.
2. A reply used when a person doesn't feel like explaining themselves.
3. When something is wrong but a person doesn't want to admit it, often used in conjunction with words such as okay and fine

Person two: Nothing (as they continue to do something)

A phrase used by Ramat Gan residents to explain why they don't want to do something. Sometimes said with despair and great fatigue,
The phrase is usually accompanied by the phrase "Stick it up your ass".

"Arnon, want to get some pizza?"

"Ahhh... There's nothing in it..."

"Are you sure?"

"You can take your pizza, and stick it up your ass..."

When one is scrolling through the television channels, but there are no shows playing which interests the viewer in any way, hence the term "Nothing On".

not for nothing

Colloquial, inverted way of saying, "for good reason," to emphasize a point. "Not for nothing is Paris called the City of Lights." Used extensively in English literature, including C.S. Lewis, Samuel Butler, and Jack London.

It can also imply consequences, for good or bad. "Not for nothing has Shaq played basketball all those years." Or, in a negative way, "Not for nothing has David Duke earned a reputation for bigotry."

It does not mean "for what it's worth," a common mistake. To see why this does not work, replace the words: "For what it's worth is Paris called the City of Lights."

There is a similar Italian phrase which is not used in the same manner in Italian, "non per niente."
