A funny way to describe when someone falls or has an accident, similar to things that happen in the video game Mario Kart. The phrase is used for moments that are especially entertaining or surprising.

A soccer player jumps to head the ball but lands awkwardly and falls over a teammate, flailing their arms. The funny way they fall makes everyone laugh, so someone might call it a “Mario Kart Down.”

Mario Karted

Going from a high placement to a very low placement in a short amount of time due to the randomized items in any kart racing game. The term is most commonly used in the Mario Kart series, it’s namesake, but can also be used in other racing party games like Garfield Kart or Team Sonic Racing.
