Politically correct synonym for "ghetto cruiser" and/or "pimpmobile". Other synonyms: barge, boat, land yacht, tank, tuna boat. Usually in reference to large late model (1989 and earlier) domestic luxury cars, sometimes in poor condition.

That hoopty is falling apart; it needs a lot of work.

Not just an old american rust bucket P.O.S. car, but any ride that is slightly lees than pimp. A hooptie is any vehicle which was once nice in its heyday, but is now past its prime. Hooptie is a statement of pride, not deragatory in any way.

Man, that old boat is ridiculous! Its the hooptiest thing on the lake!

Derived from the combination of the word hoopty and the word Cadillac. Generally this term refers to an older Cadillac that has been damaged considerable but is still drivable and is usually an embarrassment to drive, unless your name is Amos.
